Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is used to diagnose and treat abnormalities of the uterus, including:

  • uterine fibroids
  • endometrial polyps
  • uterine abnormalities such as scar tissue
  • abnormally heavy uterine bleeding
  • removal of a uterine septum

Diagnostic hysteroscopy is typically performed in our office. If treatment of an abnormality is required, the procedure is performed in the hospital, on an out-patient basis, under general anesthesia. Most women are able to resume normal activities immediately following a hysteroscopy.
